ABOUT

    The chawl is located in such a busy area of Mahim. The structure is quite similar to other chawls in Mumbai, a three storied buildings that houses hundreds of buildings. If you visited it, you would know that every problem of common man's life were there.

HOW TO REACH THE PLACE:-

    The nearest airport is the Pune airport which is 9 km and the nearest railway station is the Mahim railway station which is 3 km from the site.

 

HISTORY

    In older times, the locals of that chawl found the traces of underground water at the center. So, they dug the well and fulfill their requirements. But, the well did not have any protective wall around it. The thought to not build a wall brought a horrifying disaster in their life. 

 

    One night, a woman felt thirsty and started finding water. She failed to find a stored water in the house. So, she decided to get it from the well. As soon as she went there and started drinking water, the lady slipped into the well due to some water.

 

    She screamed for help. It is said that the screams were very painful and she tried to gave her voice to anyone who could help her but unfortunately, no one listened her screams. She died in such a terrible accident.

 

    Next day, the people of the chawl found her body and decided to give her a proper burial. The family of the woman leaved the chawl because of their grief.

 

    This makes the well haunted. They found a new source of water and covered the well.

 

 

Claims And Myths

1.    It is claimed that the people have heard the voices of anklets during the night. But, there had not seen any lady with an anklet. The people of chawl said that both the ladies were different. But, the story of the second lady is unknown till today.
2.    The lady in the well had been seen sometimes at the center of the chawl. Her painful screams were also heard by the locals. The lady's spirit sits where the well used to be and screams painfully to save someone for help. But, it's not heard of hurt anyone living there.
3.     There had also seen another sightings of the spirit of the guard sitting under fig tree near the well. There is no story regarding it. There is still a doubt why only new people are able to see the guard.
