 ABOUT

    Situated in the Son river valley of Rohtas, Bihar, India. The Rohtasgarh Fort is also known as the symbol of Kushwanshi dynasty. It is well known for its large defensive walls and several monumental gateways. Rohtash fort is also inscribed as a World Heritage site by UNESCO in 1997.

    HOW TO REACH THE PLACE :-
 
         Rohtasgarh Fort is 102km away from Sasaram which is well-connected to various cities through road and rail transport. There is no airport in Sasaram but Gaya is the nearby airport from where tourists can catch a bus or train or hire a taxi to Sasaram.
 
 




HISTORY

    The grand fort was built by the son of king Surya Harishchandra, the grandson of Suryavanshi king Trishanku of Ayodhya. Until 16th century the fort remained under Hindu kings later the Muslims occupied it for many years. The boundary wall of the fort was built by the king Sher Shah Suri to increase the security of the fort.

    To the west of Ganesh Temple, which is commonly known as Hanging House. It is located at a place where there is a trench of 1500 feet. There is a belief that a Fakir was thrown three times from there but nothing happened to him. So, they took a decision to bury him alive. 
 
 




Claims And Myths

  1.     The people heard sounds of a person crying at night. Everyone believes that it is the voice of the soul of the king Rohitashva. But the mystery is still unsolved.
  2.     It is said that at the height of 2000 feet of the fort blood was dripping out from the walls of the fort. Buchanan, a French historian who travelled 200 years ago also wrote in his document that blood comes out from the stone. The neighborhood people also agreed to this and claimed it to be true.
