HISTORY

The mystery had been known to the public since a long time. It was first noticed by villagers in 1905 when they were on the search of a buffalo allegedly killed by a tiger. At that time, they found the birds would fly in one direction towards the light and then drop dead. This thing usually happened when the monsoon ends and when there would be fog and low visibility.

The death story of the birds spread far and wide as villagers started believing about evil spirits. Popularity increased when tourists started visiting there. Scientist came there and gave their explanation as below.

Scientific Explanation

There is no definite conclusion found over the years but some of the experts have suggested that the phenomenon happened due to the earth's magnetism in that area which affected the central nervous system of the birds like Little Egret, Pond Heron and Black Bittern which were usually found dropped down there.
