 ABOUT

    Talbehat is a tiny town located in Jhansi of Lalitpur district, Uttar Pradesh. Bharat Shah built the Talbehat fort in the year 1618. When Rani Laxmibai was struggling against Britishers, it was under the territory of Maharaja Mardan Singh. The fort is situated at the bank of a big lake. The town of Talbehat is as big as the size of the lake. 
 
    The wall this fort was destroyed by the British after which they moved to Jhansi. The fort has two main gates with calm and cool atmosphere. The famous Narsingh Mandir is also situated inside the fort. Locals have claimed that even today, the screams of the souls of those 7 Victims are heard at the Talbehat Fort.  



HISTORY

    The history of the place being such spooky falls back 150 years ago when something unpredictable happened after which the fort became a symbol of terror. As A Proof Of This Untoward, The painting of 7 girls still remains on the door of this fort. According to the locals, the women worship this picture of seven girls on the day of Akshay Tritiya every year. In 1850, Mardan Singh was the king of Banpur In Lalitpur. They built a fort at Talbehat as the visited the place very often. 
 
    The Palace Was Made His Residence By Prahlada Singh, The King's Father.  According to the story, the women of the area used to go to King's door on the day of Akshay Tritiya to ask for neg. In order to complete this ritual, 7 Girls from Talbehat State arrived in this fort of king Mardan Singh to ask for neg. Seeing the beauty of the girls, the intentions of Prahlad Singh changed as he was alone in the fort. 
 
    He took these seven captives and raped them. Due to this cruelty, all the seven women jumped from the roof of the palace and gave up their lives. To repent the actions of their father, Raja Mardan Singh made pictures of those seven girls at the main gate of the fort to pay tribute to the girls. These pictures are still present here, but in spite of this the day of Akshaya Tritiya in Lalitpur is considered inauspicious.





Claims And Myths

    On the day of Akshay Tritiya, Women Worship The Pictures Of The Seven Girls At The Main Gate Of The Fort. People believe that worshiping them brings peace to their souls. Due to the happening day of the incident, the festival, Akshay Tritiya is still not celebrated here. The residents consider this fort to be cursed and very inauspicious. Many times the screaming sound of girls is still felt. That is the reason of People not thinking of going into the fort even in the broad daylight.
