 ABOUT

    The Mahal is also known as Wilayat Mahal, built by Firoz Shah Tughlaq who reigned over the Sultanate of Delhi in 1325. So, its around 700 years old and located next to the Delhi Earth station on the Bistdari road in Delhi, India. Thus, it is also known as Bistdari Mahal.

    There is a restriction to go beyond some part of the forest behind the Buddha Jayanti Park. It is about 15 km far away from Indira Gandhi International Airport and 8 km far away from New Delhi Railway Station.

    HOW TO REACH THE PLACE :-

 

        Malcha Mahal is located inside the jungles of Delhi Ridge, just by the side of the Delhi Earth Station. You can reach it first by locating the narrow lane that leads to the jungle from the Sardar Patel Marg. You have to keep walking through a narrow road called Bistdari Road through the forest passing by the Mazaar of Baba Moluddin Chisti to reach Malcha Mahal.

 

HISTORY

    The Mahal was used as a hunting lodge. After the death of the owner, British government took over it. The residents were killed or thrown out the Mahal.

    Later, after the independence of India, India Government took over it. Begum Wilayat Mahal of Awadh was awarded the place as it belong to his grandfather, Nawab Wajid Ali Shah.

    Begum came here to reside with her 2 children and a few dogs. There was no electricity or water given and due to that things were getting harder for them. Thus, she committed suicide by consuming the diamonds. Her kids could not even bury her. The dead body remained there for almost 10 days.

    People started digging her body for getting the diamonds out from her body which she used to consume. Her kids could not see that so they cased a file against them and dug out her mother's body and burned her.

 

Claims And Myths

1.    A reporter went out there for finding out the truth but unfortunately, he did not return. Till date, no one knows where he went and what happened to him.
2.    Some people believe that they have seen a prince riding on the cycle to get meat for their puppies even though the cycle was in terrible condition.
