HISTORY

The building was designed by Thomas Lyon in 1777. Even after that, it has done number of extensions in it. The statue of Minerva was also built on the top of the building. The great look of this heritage building gives us the impression of classic architecture.

On December 8, 1930, three famous freedom fighters - Benoy, Badal and Dinesh entered the writer's building and started finding the Colonel. They shot the infamous Inspector General of Police, Colonel N.S. Simpson, who brutally tortured the prisoners in the jail. They killed him and unwilling to surrender, so Badal took Potassium Cyanide and died, whereas Benoy and Dinesh shot themselves. Due to that, Benoy survived for five days and died and Dinesh survived only to be hanged on July 7, 1931.

Claims And Myths

The locals believed that the soul of Colonel Simpson has been haunting the place after his death. People claimed that they had heard the voices of footsteps, giggling and random outcries. No one dares to stay here after evening. The fifth block of the building is the least visited area in the building.

Well, it is a story of a building where three young people shot the Colonel for the independence of India and even though the spirit is haunting the place till now. So, if you liked the post, then please share it and comment us below.
